Italian

Mr Sciberras

Italian is a language which is very similar to Maltese. The knowledge of this language helps us to interact with our nearest neighbors, the Italian people. We Maltese have always had a good bilateral relationship with Italy in various life sectors such as culture, economy and social life.

Studying Italian

Italian is considered to be a language that our forefathers used to practice and this was evident when one looks at our past juridical laws.

Italian like any other language has to deal with communication, Students thus need to learn to communicate in Italian both verbally as well as in writing This is also facilitated when students watch Italian TV. stations and thus have an opportunity to listen more to the Italian language.

Watching TV. is not enough. To study Italian, like any other language, one needs to study a set of grammar rules which should be observed and learnt in order to be able to communicate correctly. Together with this, our students should also familiarize themselves with the Italian culture. This enables the students to know more about the Italian life style and also give them the opportunity to do various research works.
