The Pastoral Care Team (PCT) is entrusted with taking care of the pastoral well being of students attending St. Augustine’s College. It is also the responsibility of the PCT to organize various activities for parents related to their family life. The functions of the PCT are carried out by three separate boards, all chaired by the coordinator who is also the Vice Rector of the College. These three boards are:

•    the Student Review Board

•    the Students’ Social and Pastoral Activities Board

•    the Parents’ Pastoral Care Board

Besides the Coordinator and Spiritual Director, the team also comprises the following:

The Counsellor is the person with whom students build a trusting relationship so that they can, if the need arises share their difficulties and together try to overcome them. He helps students understand the problem so that it is the student himself who proposes adequate solutions.

The Guidance teacher offers students help in mapping out their future career, by helping them plan their studies, choices and their relationships within the College.

The Year Tutors are teachers assigned responsibility for a class of students. These responsibilities include amongst others:

  • keeping a close working relationship with his/her assigned students

  • organizing social functions and religious activities, the latter in collaboration with the Spiritual Director

  • fulfilling a disciplinary role

  • overseeing the day-to-day running of the classroom

  • informing the PCT coordinator of any relevant information which has to be relayed to parents

  • supervising students as regards the work allotted to them and to take action if a number of no homework or other misbehavior is reported

  • overseeing the proper wearing of the College Uniform and the general appearance and comportment of the students

  • they are empowered to take all necessary steps which they deem necessary to ensure the smooth running of the class they are responsible for

  • referring students to the Student Review Board or the PCT coordinator whenever this is necessary to ensure the well-being of the individual student and the common good of the class.
