Waqt iż-żjara tal-Eċċellenza tiegħu, il-President ta’ Malta, Dr George Abela fil-Kulleġġ Santu Wistin, nhar id-19 t’April, huwa stieden lill-istudenti tal-Kulleġġ, għal żjara fil-Palazz tal-President, Sant’Anton. Din seħħet fil-ġimgħa ta’ bejn is-27 u t-30 ta’ Mejju, fejn l-istudenti ta’ kull sena sekondarja żaru l-palazz.

Il-palazz, li nbena mill-Gran Mastru Antoine De Paule, baqa’ jintuża mill-Gvernaturi Ingliżi u mill-Presidenti ta’ Malta. Dan wassal biex il-palazz baqa’ jikber u jiżżejjen minn kull min għammar fih, b’hekk mogħni bi ħwejjeġ tal-arti imprezzabbli.

Iż-żjara kienet ferm interessanti, għaliex l-istudenti ngħataw spjegazzjoni dettaljata ta’ kull kamra u sala pubblika fil-Palazz tal-President, fosthom is-Sala tal-Ambaxxaturi. Stajna nammiraw ix-xogħol mirqum tal-għamara, tiżjin, indurar u tappezzerija li tinżamm pupilla mill-istaff tal-Palazz. Il-pitturi ta’ Granmastri u Gvernaturi ta’ Malta li soltu naraw fil-kotba, stajna narawhom sewwa u mill-viċin. Ix-xogħlijiet tal-arti ta’ pitturi famużi bħal Gużeppi Calí, u xogħlijiet tal-fidda Maltija, kienu attrazzjoni interessanti. Stajna nammiraw il-kmamar li soltu naraw fuq it-televiżjoni waqt xi laqgħa bejn kapijiet tal-Istat, fost ritratti tal-President ta’ Malta mal-Papa Benedittu, u Kapijiet ta’ Stat bħal Angela Merkel.

Ammirajna wkoll il-ġonna privati tal-palazz, fost siġar u fjuri, u kant tal-għasafar stajna nistrieħu u ngawdu t-temp sabiħ tar-rebbiegħa. Dawn il-ġonna tipiċi Maltin tas-seklu dsatax, bil-pergoli, gażebo u funtanti, huma miżmuma b’mod tajjeb ħafna.

Din iż-żjara se tibqa’ mfakkra żgur mill-istudenti u l-għalliema tagħna. Il-Kulleġġ jirringrazzja minn qalbu lill-Eċċellenza Tiegħu, il-President ta’ Malta u l-istaff tiegħu, għall-ospitalitá tagħhom.
