Communication with Teachers

Because of the large number of students taught by each teacher and the high level of parent interest, the following methods have been found to be efficient and effective:

a. Notes — Because of the numerous responsibilities teachers have, written correspondence to them regarding fairly straightforward questions/concerns is an excellent way to communicate. Your questions will be answered as quickly as possible, typically within 48 hours. Be sure to ask your child for written responses from teachers!

b.   Phone calls — Please call the secretary’s office on tel. no. 21246613 and request that the teacher(s) get in touch with you. Teachers will return your phone calls during school hours. Be sure to leave a phone number where you can be reached during school hours. If necessary, teachers will make appointments during school hours to discuss any problems you might have.

During meetings with teachers, please be as courteous to the teacher as you would expect him/her to be to you. Questioning the teacher’s authority is not helpful in front of the child. If you have such a disagreement, please request an interview with the teacher privately.

Please try to be open to both sides of the story if a problem arises. Perception differences and information reported incorrectly can lead to unnecessary confrontations with the teacher and unwise decisions.

Discuss difficulties in the classroom with the teacher first before bringing them to the Rector.

Parents should under no circumstances phone teachers at their private homes or waylay them before or after school hours. It should be appreciated that teachers have a right to privacy as well.
